Our sales journey has taken us from using a website builder site with terrible results (security and visibility issues with Square) to eBay. It is an expensive option to sell there due to eBay fees, though the traffic/sales increase and tools have been worth the move.

Knives are noted with the exact type of either Stainless or Carbon steel in their description. Stainless is easier to care for while carbon steel knives will require some additional effort to maintain. Carbon steel will darken with use and patina over time, though left wet or inside the sheath it will rust. Stainless steel can also rust if neglected. After use, we recommend Frog Lube products after cleaning/drying as a steel treatment (Frog Lube Extreme, USDA food grade lubricant). Carbon steel knives will ship with a Frog Lube treatment applied to the blade in most cases. Flitz metal polish is great for shining up your steel – use microfiber cloth to apply and buff.

Stabilized wood handles need an occasional wood wax or oil treatment with a fine wood furniture grade product. Microfiber cloth is a good applicator choice. Some owners like a worn in look and dispense with such care, letting the handle develop character of use.

G10 (high-pressure fiberglass laminate) handles clean up well with soap and water, color generally remains stable unless a lighter color G10, which can darken depending on exposure to synthetic dyes. Porosity matters also, polished G10 is more stable while textured G10 can trap particulate. Carbon Fiber is best cared for by washing with soap and water, patting dry.

Micarta (brand name also used in general for phenolic handles) may darken over time depending on the beginning color and state of finish. Some knife handles will have raw micarta which will certainly darken with use and cleaning while other polished or darker color micarta may not change significantly. Soap and warm water with a hand pat dry is recommended.

Many of our customers are seasoned knife users and understand that knives are designed, built and to be used with a specific purpose. We offer specialty knives for hunting, fishing and bushcraft / firecraft. Use for other purposes is not advised or covered by warranty. If you have a problem with a knife, Aloha Blade will work with the custom maker to address the issue and offer a reasonable solution to the original purchaser if the knife has not been neglected / misused and is within one year of purchase, if the maker is still actively producing knives. Production knives from larger companies have their own manufacturer’s warranty. Your knife should be a trusted companion for many outings, but there comes a time when after much use they become “knives emeritus”, steeped in lore and a reminder of your adventures.

Different steels require different sharpening materials. Older generation steels may be sharpened with more traditional stones or ceramics while modern particle metallurgy carbon and stainless steels generally need industrial diamond or similar abrasives. Please contact us for further information on a sharpening strategy for your knife. We recommend hand sharpening on stones or similar when possible. Sharpening is its own art and if you are not comfortable doing it yourself seek a professional who works with high quality outdoor knives specifically. If you are new to sharpening don’t start with these knives.

If you are purchasing from a location other than the United States, please contact us at [email protected] before purchasing to see if shipping to your location is possible with respect to, among other considerations, local laws. We ship all knives with a signature confirmation requirement, fully insured. Please make sure you enter a shipping address that allows for signature confirmation, or the safe arrival is at your risk entirely. Shipping and insurance within the USA are included in the knife purchase price. Shipments outside the USA, when possible, will have an extra cost above purchase price, to be determined. Shipping is ASAP within 2 business days, usually next business day or same day when possible. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to know their local and national laws regarding knife ordering, shipping and use/ownership. When shipping outside of the USA, in the event of confiscation by Customs or other authority, Aloha Blade assumes no responsibility and will return no funds, no refund. Shipping choices are USPS Priority and UPS 2 Day Air.

All knives are new from the maker unless otherwise noted and inspected/handled/shipped with diligent care. Please contact [email protected] within seven days of receiving if the knife arrives in a state other than described. Knife must arrive back to us within 10 days of the return confirmation date. Confirmation of your return date is via a return number which we will provide by email. Please use the original packaging for the return.

A twenty percent restocking fee applies to all returns unless we are at fault. Knives must be returned in unused condition with all accompanying packaging, wrapping and maker identification pieces also in new condition or the knife will be returned to you without refund. Do not affect the knife packaging by taping, writing on or otherwise altering. If deemed other than new it will remain yours and will be returned to you without refund. We highly recommend insuring your knife for the full purchase value in event of return for any reason (shipping and insurance at your cost if other than our fault). Aloha Blade accepts no responsibility for uninsured return shipments and it’s always best to require a signature upon our receipt.
